World Cultures Asia Test

There will be a test on Asia on Monday November 6 and Tuesday November 7.  The review will be handed out on Friday November 3.  Please study the review in detail, and complete the review assignment, which will be collected the day of the test.

All-School History Fair

The All-School History Fair will be held Friday, November 17 in the Multi-Purpose Room.  Anyone is invited to come view the projects, they will be up throughout the day, being judged.

A Science Quiz…

…covering the first two sections of Chapter 3 will be administered Friday, November 3. When presented with a word problem, you should be able to complete the following:

  1. Give the definition and formula to calculate speed
  2. Give the definition and formula to calculate velocity
  3. Give the definition and formula to calculate acceleration
  4. Give the definition and formula to calculate force
  5. Actually complete calculations for the above terms
  6. Describe the difference between balanced and unbalanced forces
  7. Determine average and instantaneous speed using a graph

The instructions and rubric for the “Special Number” Project will be sent home next week.  Due date not assigned yet, but definitely after “History Fair”.  :-)  

 Homework:

Students should be studying and working on “changing the wrong answers to right answers”.  It will be graded as homework. 

Another test covering the same objectives will be on Tuesday-Wednesday, October 24-25.

World Cultures Week of 10/23

This week we will be taking another big look at Asia, focusing in on Japan and the Koreas.  Be prepared for a test on Asia November 6 and 7.  Make sure you are keeping all notes and graded work in a safe place.

History Fair DUE!

All History Fair completed projects are due next Friday, October 27th. 

Exhibit boards:  completed boards may be delivered anytime Friday morning, beginning at 7:45.  Please include your title page, annotated bibliography and process paper, in final typed format, on the back of your board.  Please attach these with a binder clip.  DO NOT POST THEM ON THE FRONT OF YOUR BOARD!

Documentaries:  please bring your final documentary on DVD or VHS format.  The title page, annotated bibliography and process paper should be together in a folder.  Please rubber band the paperwork with the DVD or VHS, or attach in some way.

 We have one week to go.  Remember:  if you have any questions, ask Ms. Hines in class, or parents, send an email!

Engineering Camp

Booker T. Washington HS will be holding a 4 hour Engineering Day Camp October 21, 2006 from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. The camp will introduce students to the field of engineering through interactive, problem solving strategies, in addition to technology applications in math and science. If your child is available to attend and interested, please e-mail Mr. Edquid. We’re allowed to take only a small number of students, so attednance is limited to first come, first serve. Permission slips should be ready by Wednesday, October 18.

Washington High School for Engineering Professions: “On the High School for Engineering Professions campus, students learn concepts of science and engineering through hands-on, interactive activities. [Booker T. Washington HS] would like to share this experience with you. Participating in our annual Engineering Camp, middle school students will have the opportunity to use their knowledge and boundless creativity to construct solutions to challenging problems and most importantly, have fun!”
