TO PARENTS: 

PROGRESS REPORTS: 

In addition to the progress report you are receiving from the SCHOOL on Friday, November 17, your child has received a DETAILED progress report from Math class.  It was sent home yesterday for 5th and 7th class periods; today, Thursday, for 6th and 8th class periods. 1st  period class will received their progress report on Friday.  

This detailed Math progress report MUST be signed and returned to me on November 27-28.  I have informed the students they can complete  any assignment they have missing and turn it in with their progress report signed on November 27-28 to receive partial credit. 

 There will be NO other homework. 

Students must have completed the handout with pages 14-15-16-17.

HAVE SAFE AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS.

World Cultures Week of 11/13

This week we are becoming familiar with the geography of Europe, before we begin Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome after the break.  Please look for a Europe Map Activity Wednesday and Thursday.  The students may have time to finish in class, but if they don’t, will need to complete it for homework.

 Also, there will be no World Cultures homework over the Thanksgiving holiday.

The science fair research paper…

… had an original due date of November 27/28, which was changed to December 1. The new due date will be December 4/5. Any student who adheres to the original November 27/28 due date will earn 10 extra credit test/quiz or project points.

Math PreAP/GT – Nov. 13-17, 2006

We are still working on Fractions:  Unit II

Homework:  Activity 1.4  for class periods 1st, 5th, 6th, and 7th. 8th class period will complete activities 1.3 and 1.4.

Keep your fractions strips and bring them to class.  Please, also have ready graph paper. 

Next week we will be working on  a)Fractions using symbolic form  b)  Finding equivalent fractions  c)  making a number line  d)  Comparing Fractions to benchmarks.

 TUTORIALS:  Mondays from 3:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Extra Credit Opportunity (revised)

Students may earn 5 extra credit test/quiz (or project) points for turning in science article summaries. The articles may come from newspapers, science journals, or magazines. The summaries must be at least one paragraph in length, typed, and include a copy (or original) of the article. Students may turn in up to 6 articles for extra credit. All extra credit is due by December 13, 2006.

 Note to parents:

Test #1, Test #2 and a detailed progress report for the 2nd cycle were  sent home.  Please sign the tests and progress report.  If your child has returned them, please disregard this message.  Thank you!

 TUTORIALS:

MONDAYS FROM 3:45 TO 4:30 P.M.  (C-105)

Please, make sure your child has a safe-ride back home after 4:30 p.m.  The scholl will NOT provide transportation. 

Unit II:                FRACTIONS                FRACTIONS  

Homework due on Monday/Tuesday, Nov. 6-7:  “Fractions strips”  Start with nine 8 1/2-inch strips.  Fold the strips to show halves, thirds, fourths, fifths, sixths, eighths. ninths, tenths, and twelfths.  Mark the folds in the strips with a pen so you can see them more easily.  This assignment will be graded as a project.
