Yesterday and today (February 26 and 27), the students received their graded chapter 11 quizzes. Please make sure that they complete their quiz corrections on the back of the answer sheet or they will not receive the make-up points (2 points per correction). Also, please sign the front of the answer sheet, next to the grade. The signed and returned quiz will be collected as a homework grade. The assignments are due Thursday (March 1) for periods 1, 5, 6, and 7 and Friday (March 2) for 2nd period.
Note to Parents/Students:
Next week, February 26 to March 2, students will be taking the STANFORD Test. Even though, we have provided some consistent class scheduling for the students throughout the week.
In Math class we are working on: a) Locating points in the Coordinate Plane and b) taking measurements for “Mini-Me” project.

Note: All work on graph paper must be neatly done and must show all coordinates for every point. Use a ruler to connect all your points.

We are studying Chapter 11: Earthquakes and Volcanoes in science. The students should have already read the chapter and completed the guided reading. This week we will discuss how earthquakes are measured and different types of volcanic activity, which will culminate in a Chapter 11 quiz Friday, February 16.
Friday, February 9, updated science grade sheets were sent home with the students. These reports list all of your student’s grades so far and also show any missing assignments. Any student who returns a parent signed grade sheet can receive 5 extra credit test points. Grade sheets must be returned by February 15 to receive the extra credit. Any make up work or returned missing work must be submitted by 5:00p Wednesday, February 14. Students should see me during advisory or after school to ask about missing assignments.
Note to parents/students:
4th cycle will end on FEBRUARY 16. Any make up work MUST BE completed by Wednesday, February 14. NO ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THIS DATE.
There will be a TEST on Friday, February 16. Objectives to be covered are:
a. use ratios to describe proportional situations; b. represent ratios and percents with concrete models, fractions and decimals; c. use ratios to make predictions in proportional situations.
The students must study all the handouts discussed in class. Ratios: pp. 65-66; Rates: pp. 67-68; Writing Proportions: pp. 69-70; Solving Proportions pp. 70-71; Problem Solving with Proportions: pp. 73-74.

Recipe Project was graded for 1st and 5th period and returned back to the students. Today, an up-dated progress report was sent home for 5th and 7th period. Please, sign it and send it back to Mrs. Hernandez.
Homework: This week we are going to be working/discussing/grading worksheets Ratios: 65-66, Rates: 67-68, Writing Proportions: 69-70 and Solving proportions: 71-72.
Materials to bring to class: textbook, paper, pencils, ruler, measuring tape and graph paper.
