September 30, 2007 mr. e. Leave a comment

This week we’ll be studying atomic theory and the different phases of matter. To help us understand the structure of atoms, we’ll be creating atomic models with fruit colored loops. To complete this activity, I’ve asked the students to bring a ziploc bag of Fruit Loops, Fruity Cheerios, or any other fruit colored loop cereal. Please bring this item in by Wednesday, October 3. Thank you for your support.

Just added (9/30): Please also bring a brown paper bag (grocery size).

September 30, 2007 cbrame Leave a comment

The date for Common Assessment #1: The World Map Test has been changed to FRIDAY, OCTOBER 5th. I have let the students know this change and they should have written it in their planners to help them remember. The test format is multiple choice. They will have a map with numbered continents, major lines of demarcation, mountain ranges, oceans, etc. (they were given a list of what they are to know by the test) and they will have to choose the corresponding answer for each location. We will be reviewing for the test on Wednesday/Thursday, depending on the day in which I have your student. The students have known about this test for about 3 weeks, they should be very prepared!

The first Common Assessment will be given on Wednesday, October 3 for Blue Day classes and Thursday, October 4 for Green Day classes. This assessment will be covering all of the information that was labeled on the World Map for the World Map Assignment given earlier in September. All World Map Assignments have been graded and handed back (if completed) and should be used to help the students study. The students have a list of the places/locations that they should know for the assessment. This will be a test grade (40% of the total grade for this grading cycle). We will review the beginning of next week to make sure the students are prepared.

If you have not received your World Map Assignment back, please come see me ASAP.
