Multicultural Food Festival

Multicultural Food Festival

Tuesday and Wednesday, May 27th and 28th

The last week of school, all students in World Cultures will be participating in the Multicultural Food Festival in Ms. Brame’s classroom. Since food is a large part of culture around the world, I would like to invite all students to bring in a dish representative of their culture or heritage to share with their class on Tuesday, May 27th (Blue Day classes) or Wednesday, May 28th (Green Day classes). There are a few requirements for the festival:

1)     The food may be bought from the store or homemade.

2)     The student must explain how their dish represents their culture, what country or state their dish is from, and why they felt it was important to bring in this dish to share.

3)     I would recommend bringing enough food for the entire class. A small sample for every student in the class would suffice.

4)     There is a limit of 2 dishes per student.

5)     There will be a refrigerator and microwave available.

Please take advantage of this time to share part of your culture with your peers. Although this will be a fun activity, let’s make sure to take it seriously to honor your heritage.

World Atlas Project Due Dates

May 14, 2008 cbrame Leave a comment

All World Atlas Projects are due Monday, 5/19 for Blue Day classes and Tuesday, 5/20 for Green Day classes. Each student has a folder at school with all of their work for the project. Most of it has been completed in class, but if time was not used effectively, some students should be finishing up maps and country fact sheets. If anything was lost at any time, I have attached all maps, country fact sheets, and the directions/rubric for the project below. Students will be allowed to take home their folders on Friday to make sure everything is complete. If you have any questions, please email me.

Please see the attached document detailing the class project that all World Cultures classes will be participating in. Although most of the work will be done at school, there may be some work that needs to be completed for homework. This homework will be written in the students’ planners if it is required of them. The due date will be announced as the date gets a little closer, as this project will be an ongoing one for the next couple of weeks. If you have any questions regarding the project, please email me.
