Cluster Detentions are a consequence for Level I offenses which include (but are not limited to), classroom misbehavior or disruption, excessive tardies to class, failure to participate in class, or misbehavior in the hallways (see HISD Code of Student Conduct).
Detention is held before or school Monday through Thursday. Morning detention starts at 7:35 and ends at 8:05. Afternoon detention starts at 3:35 and ends at 4:05. The student will be informed which cluster teacher he/she is serving detention with at the time of the assignment.
- Students will receive written notification of detention which must be signed by the parent in order for the student to complete his/her detention.
- Parents will be given 24 hours notice of the detention assignment so that transportation arrangements can be made.
- If a detention needs to be rescheduled, the student needs to inform the teacher who assigned the detention before the time for which it is scheduled.
- Detentions must be served within one week of when they are assigned.
